As Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson battle it out to be the top selling American Idol winner, Underwood has emerged as one of the biggest stars in the country genre.  Born and raised in the small town of Checotah, Oklahoma, this country star has come a long way from the dirt roads of southeastern Oklahoma.  Selling over 9 million albums since being crowned the season 4 winner on Idol, she also has a string of number 1 hits along with several awards.  She has perfected the art of entertaining in her shows and was awarded the ACM award for Entertainer of the year.  In November, she also surpassed Kelly Clarkson as the best selling Idol winner in the US with sales topping 11 million albums sold, thowugh she still trails Clarkson in worldwide sales.  Her good looks, great voice, and great personality appeals to a wide variety of fans.  Her latest album, “Play On” has already been certified platinum and is sure to sell millions more.  To the dixmay of many of her male fans, Underwood announced recently that she was engaged to NHL star Mike Fisher, who plays for the Ottawa Senators.  Carrie Underwood continues to tour and sell out arenas promoting her latest album, entertaining fans across the nation.  Given her solid fanbase, I predict Underwood will have a long and prosperous career, eventually outselling Clarkson worldwide.
