Discover Bora Bora

bora-boraNot long ago, a friend of mine said he was fed up and heading to Bora Bora.  Cool I said, where is that.  He actually didn’t know either, but he said he had seen pictures and heard it was the greatest place for a relaxing vacation.  After that, I was bent on trying to learn all I could about the place.  Bora Bora is an island in the South pacific and is part of French Polynesia, with its most famous neighbor being Tahiti.  The island was formed by volcanoes which are now extinct, but two towering peaks still emerge from the depths to great heights on the island.  A ring around the island has formed a beautiful lagoon with clear waters and sandy white beaches.  Bora Bora was chosen by the U.S. as a base during WWII, but was never invaded or ravaged by the war.  The economy is mainly based on tourism, and several resorts have sprang up through the years to accommodate visitors.  For those who want a more private setting, the island is littered with bungalows built out over the water.  Activities on the island include fishing, skiing, sightseeing, off-roading, and anything else you can think of doing on an exotic island.  Vehicles are heavily outnumbered by bicycles, but rental cars are available.  Scooters are also a very popular mode of transportation.  A vacation hear is a great escape from the hustle and bustle and offers a very unique experience that differs greatly from Caribbean destinations.
