I had a friend tell me a while back that he and his wife were going to drive to Las Vegas to save money. This blew my mind because this was at a time when gas prices were outrageous and Vegas was 500 miles away. I waited for him to start laughing and say he was just kidding, but he never did. I quickly informed him that Vegas is one of the cheapest places in the world to fly to no matter where you live. There are so many specials offered by travel sites and airlines themselves that you will probably spend more driving(even if you have to buy 2 roundrip tickets) if you count the gas, hotel, wear and tear on your vehicle, and taking a chance on blowing a tire or worse to your car. Then you have to take into account the time you will save getting there. Flight, motel, and rental car prices are dirt cheap around this town and vacation packages are available to and from Vegas to anywhere.
