While visiting the greater Los Angeles area recently, I came across a small beach town named El Segundo. With a population of around 15000, El Segundo still maintains a smalltown charm even if it is a suburb and connected to the second largest city in the nation. Downtown El Segundo is filled with small resturaunts and pubs and everyone seems to know each other. The town is host to many nice hotels and motels at very reasonable prices such as the Travel Lodge which is only two miles from LAX and has a weekly rate of $450. The town also has several major corporations located in town such as Boeing, Chevron, and Raytheon where thousands commute to and from each day. The beaches are great if you want to catch a wave, or just relax and take in a beautiful sunset. So the next time you fly into LAX and need a nice and affordable place to stay, book a room in El Segundo.
