Visit Vail, Colorado
13th March, 2010 - Posted by Traveler -
The town of Vail is best known for the ski resort of the same name. Located high in the Rockies, Vail was first recognized as a town in the mid 1960’s, not long after Vail Ski Resort was opened. The resort is home to the best snow skiing in the United States, with its highest elevation being over 11,000 feet above sea level. There are over 4000 permanent residents in Vail, with the main industry being tourism. Although most visit the area for snow sports in the Winter, many also come during the summer months for all of the outdoor recreation that Vail has to offer including fishing, hiking, mountain bike riding, camping, and any other activity you want to do in the great outdoors. Vail is located about 90 miles West of Denver on Interstate 70.
