Burlington Vermont
The beauty and wonder of the Eastern US in one city
Gorgeous Burlington, Vermont is the epitome of the perfect East coast-city just plentiful with things to do and see. It has pretty much everything your heart desires when you travel to the East coast, and it’s a city that does it in style – not the flashy kind, but the kind that makes you feel right at home, environmentally aware and grateful to be in Vermont.
At around 40,000 people it is the biggest city in the state, far from New York-sized, but with a vital and busy city area in all types of ways, both in terms of culture and activities. Depending on when you go, you can both feast in the local restaurants, go boating on the beautiful Lake Champlain (or ice-skate), go skiing, visit a maple syrup-factory run by local families, experience the amazing wildlife at the Ekka, look for the lake monster Champy, visit art galleries and museums, or enjoy the sun in the City Hall park or along the lakeside. The amazing brownstones and old villas combined with the maple trees make it a spot perfect for a romantic getaway, especially if you catch the fantastic colors of the leaves falling. Just contact www.cheaperticketprices.com for how to get there cheaply.
While in Burlington, there are a few ‘must-do’s’ on your list and one of the most important is to experience Church Street and it’s bustling life of local artists, jugglers, magicians and glorious ice cream. When hungry, the area is crammed full of the best restaurants in the entire state just waiting to give you the food experience of a life-time – with the service to top it. If you enjoy an active night life, Burlington has a great scene to go out in – one of my personal favorites is the bar Red Square, owned by a vodka-loving local (and with more different brands of the spirit than you have ever seen before in one place), the Daily Planet or the absolutely glorious Higher Ground if you want live music. In terms of culture, it’s no question Burlington has it all – chock full of art shows, concerts, exhibitions, happenings, markets and festivals – no matter the time of year or part of the week you’re there. It will recharge your batteries and bring you great memories for life – go and become green too!
