Day Trip-Manitou Springs

     Nesteled in the foothills just outside of Colorado Springs lies a small and quaint town, full of diversity, good food and scenery.  It is great for a nice day trip or a one night stay.  There are loads of inexpensive motels to choose from along the way as you get close to the town center, and many lie along the creek that runs through Manitou Springs, creating a greater sense of being outdoors.

     No matter what the season, Manitou Springs can be a great excuse to get out and experience Colorado at its finest.  My favorite season to go however is late spring, as the weather is still mild enough to walk around outside all day comfortable.  The nearby Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak outdoor areas make Manitou Springs an even more desirable destination, and lie within just minutes outside the town.  Both these areas are renowned for their beauty and are easy to explore on foot or by tour in the case of the Pikes Peak area.  

     Once back in town, treat yourself to some great food courtesy of any of the various local restaurants, followed up by a stop at the local candy shop.  After enjoying some sweets you can venture over to the town arcade and spend some quarters playing with friends.  ”Ready to go?
