Galveston, Oh Galveston
17th June, 2009 - Posted by Traveler -
Ike is gone, and Galveston is open for business. As a frequent visitor to this wonderful town on the Texas coast, I want to share with you some local attractions that are enjoyed by thousands every year.
1. The Beach
The beaches have been repaired and are ready to be taken advantage of. They have family friendly beaches at Stewart Beach, and a party atmosphere at East Beach. The city makes sure beaches are kept clean from trash and seaweed daily, and lifeguards are always on duty.
2. The Strand
Located downtown, the strand is home to the Texas Mardi Gras, wonderful giftshops, delicious vendors and resturaunts, and an exciting nightlfe.
3. Moody Gardens and Shlitterbahn
Moody gardens offers glimpse of a rain forest in Texas, and Schlitterbahn is on of the best water parks in the nation.
3. Colonial architecture
You can’t travel anywhere in town without seing the beutiful colonial houses that have stood the test of time.
4. Food
Take your pick. I have not found a bad place to eat yet. Galveston offers the best seafood in Texas along with many Mexican and Greek resturaunts.
5. Hotel Galvez
One of the only remaining structures on the seawall to survive both hurricane Ike, and the devastating hurricane in the early 20th Century.
There you have it Hope you have fun while your there, and remember to let http://www.cheaperticketprices.com/ get you there for less.
