The Beauty of Maine
21st April, 2009 - Posted by admin -
Ok, full disclosure, this writer absolutely loves the state of Maine. I love the pristine wilderness, lakes, lobster and the fact that there is one person per square mile when you average it all out. I’ve visited it every year since I was born…way back in the 60’s!
That being said, Maine is unlike almost any other state in the nation. Most will know about the coastal area with it’s quaint harbors, lobster boats and beach side villages and homes for weekly rent, however there is much more to this New England beauty than meets the eye.
There are various lakes like Moosehead, which feature tours by seaplane to see scenic forest land and untouched wilderness just ripe for camping and hiking. Picking blueberries which grow wild, blackberries which also are in abundance during the late summer are also favorite dalliances for me. There is kayaking, white water rafting and fishing as well.
I personally would suggest www.penobscotadventures.com, as they offer everything from white water rafting to rock climbing to paintball and many other activities. The owners will ensure your time is well spent and you’ll get a taste of all this beautiful state has to offer.
Fly into Bangor International Airport via www.cheaperticketprices.com and see for yourself. Rent a car at the airport and just set your sights on seeing beautiful landscapes, ocean vista’s, vast forests and friendly people. Be it the Acadia National Park on the east coast or even perhaps a ferry to Nova Scotia.
Maine has so much to offer both city-dwellers and international travellers alike who just want some peace and quiet I can’t imagine a better place to just get away from it all. Just pick a direction and drive, trust me, you’ll find something to see and do in Maine.
