Saints survive a nail-biter
25th January, 2010 - Posted by Traveler -
Brett Favre and Minnesota will have to wait another year to try and reach a Super Bowl. The Saints survived, and went on to win their first NFC Championship after more than 40 years. The Saints now will face the best team in the AFC led by the best QB when they travel to Florida to square off against the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning. The Saints put up good numbers in the first half Sunday, but had to rely on their defense to stop Minnesota’s offensive assault in the second. If not for the fumbles by Adrian Peterson, and a rookie mistake by Brett Favre in the fourth quarter, Minnesota would have won the game. Brett passed the ball on a third and long across his body to the middle of the field which ended up as an interception. Had Brett scampered a little, it looked as though he could have made a few yards and put his team in position to kick a field goal and win the game. The Saints do deserve some credit for never giving up, and playing hard on every down into overtime, however, they will need to play alot better if they expect to win against the mighty Colts.
