There is no question about Jay Cutler’s talent

Jay Cutler began the season with high hopes and a new team to lead.  The Chicago Bears and their fans belived the missing piece of their football puzzle was finally in place.  I can’t say that they were wrong to assume that, but high hopes turned into high turnover rates and another losing season.  The biggest blow to the team was the loss of Urlacher at the beginning of the season.  He is the single most dominant defensive player in the league and is in on almost every play.  Cutler struggled the entire season to get the offense going throwing interception after interception after interception.  He seemed to force more plays that weren’t their than Favre did in his interception prone season.  Still there is hope.  With a Monday night victory over division rival Minnesota, Cutler had the best game of his first season with the Bears, throwing only one pick to his 4 touchdowns, and having a QB rating over 100.  That’s something to build on for next season.  He has always had an arrogant attitude, and I believe his poor performance this season has humbled him.  On the bright side, his arm strength is amazing and with an addition of a great wide reciever and some better blocking, I think Cutler will have a good season next year.  This season rivals the horrible seasons that Grossman had, but atleast Grossman’s team made the Super Bowl.  Chicago is not a very forgiving town.  Grossman is gone and probably isn’t welcome back, and in order for Cutler to avoid the same fate, his decision making will have to improve exponentially.  He has the tools, he just needs to learn how to work with them.
